Step Into the Future of Computing Innovation
As we continue to see rapid advancements in data-driven decision making and Generative AI (GenAI) technologies, it’s clear that we’re entering a new era of computational innovation. GenAI’s ability to generate human-like text, images, and other forms of content has evolved dramatically, driven by increasingly sophisticated models and vast datasets. However, despite the accelerated digital transformation of businesses over the past few years, more than two-thirds of companies surveyed by 451 Research, part of S&P Global Intelligence, have yet to fully embrace a data-driven approach to strategic decision-making. The true potential of these systems hinges on one critical factor: the quality, breadth, and accessibility of the underlying data.
In this newsletter, our team discusses...
...the changing role of data archiving and how an archive can become a modern data platform. As data analytics plays an increasing role in strategic decision-making and GenAI models become more sophisticated, their effectiveness increasingly depends on the quality, diversity, and accessibility of the data that fuels them. Archive360’s data governance and archiving platform isn't just a safeguard for regulatory compliance; it’s a treasure trove for future innovation. Our extensive data migration, collection and integration capabilities enable customers to eliminate their technical debt while converting data into valuable assets. The ability of customers to securely store and retrieve vast amounts of disparate data will enable them to continuously refine their AI models, discover new insights, and stay ahead of the competition.
The rate of development and investment in analytics and AI is staggering. Gartner estimates that spending for GenAI alone in 2024 will reach $175B, and grow to nearly $300B by 2027, representing¹. Organizations and software providers are looking at leveraging ever increasing AI capabilities and new use cases, which also comes with a voracious appetite for data.
Leading up to the GenAI boom, enterprise data platforms delivered analytics capabilities at scale with great benefits to organizations. However, a recent study published by S&P Global’s 451 Research found that most companies have not fully embraced
a data-driven approach to strategic decision-making. As senior research analyst Paige Bartley highlighted, these platforms tended to source data from structured systems or master data management solutions, which are easier to curate and access than unstructured or semi-structured datasets². Whether analytics platforms and AI models deliver historical or forward-looking insights, those insights need to be based on a solid foundation of high-quality, governed data. GenAI relies heavily on unstructured and text-based content, which has historically been less accessible for many reasons. This is where a well-architected archive becomes part of a modern data platform.
The S&P Global study also noted that GenAI’s need for text-based and multi-modal content means relying on sources not traditionally used by enterprise analytics tools. In fact, survey participants indicated archived data represents the top source for text-based data and is third behind only CRM and MDM solutions for building retrieval augment generation systems (RAG’s).
Access to large sets and trusted sources of data is critical for developing RAG’s, custom language models (large or small), or fine-tuning models and is essential for all strategic decisions to be data driven. However, integrity, security, and privacy concerns remain top challenges to sourcing and using data to build and feed analytics and AI solutions. As we wrote previously, Trusted Data is the foundation to analytics and AI. Archive360’s platform does not just provide archiving and governance capabilities, but provides an accessible, trusted source for data-driven analytics and AI solutions. Customers can leverage hundreds of terabytes or petabytes of their own, secure data to build or refine their AI models and drive strategic decisions. And this is when an archive becomes a modern data platform.
