Table of Contents
After transitioning to Microsoft 365 and the Azure cloud, this oil & gas exploration and production company located in Europe, North Africa, and Asia Pacific with more than 2,ooo employees wanted to decommission their on-premises SharePoint servers and move the contents to their Azure cloud.
The Challenge
Operating in a complex and highly distributed environment within a regulated industry involves managing the lifecycle of vast amounts of documentation. The design, construction, operation and decommissioning of an oil & gas offshore production platform alone is a decades-long process, during which many millions of documents and huge amounts of data are created and must be retained. After transitioning to Microsoft 365 and the Azure cloud, this organization wanted to decommission their on-premises SharePoint servers and move the contents to their Azure cloud. The content had to be indexed and searchable so, should regulators request specific information, they can quickly and easily produce it. They migrated 15TB of data from one data center and plan to migrate more data from other centers in phases.
The Solution
Our Archive360 team deployed Microsoft SharePoint and OneDrive Archiving. Our teams then utilized Archive360 Managed Migration Services, and for additional support the customer utilized Archive360 Admin Assist.
The Benefits
Our Solution eliminated on-premises hardware, software, and maintenance costs. Archive360 centralized the storage of inactive records. All files are now readily available and stored in their native format for the customer. On the security side, the customer controls the security configuration of their cloud infrastructure, their own encryption keys, ensuring there is no vendor lock-in.
