Digital communications are now the mainstay in modern enterprises, allowing organizations to collaborate and share information rapidly. Effective governance and archiving across all digital communications, including email, enhances the overall governance of the data produced by digital channels.
Digital communications take on many forms, including collaboration channels like Teams, Zoom, and Slack, industry-specific channels like Bloomberg and FactSet, instant messaging channels like iMessage and WhatsApp, and social media while still retaining use of email at scale. In parallel, these communications are often subject to numerous regulatory requirements, the focus of legal discovery, and are increasingly important for business operations.
Given the dynamics outlined above, Gartner launched a new Magic Quadrant on Digital Communications Governance and Archiving at the beginning of 2025, in which Archive360 was recognized as a Leader. In this blog, we are outlining our Digital Communications Governance and Email Archiving strategy, and the elements we believe are important for enterprises and government agencies as they plan for the future. These include:
- Cloud-Native, Modern Platform Architecture: Archive360 was developed as a cloud-native data archiving and governance platform from the ground up. The architecture supports scalability, extensibility, and ability to meet many customer workloads. It also leverages the significant investment being made by Hyperscalers in infrastructure, security, and platform tools that benefit our customers.
- SaaS Solution that Puts Customers in Control: The Archive360 Platform is deployed as a SaaS solution. However, it is fully managed and gives customers their own dedicated, single-tenant environments. This provides customers with all of the advantages of a SaaS solution while allowing the configuration to be tailored for each customer and their workloads, as well as allowing integration into customer security programs. It also allows us to turn the tenant over to the customers at the end of a term, eliminating future migration requirements and “data extraction,” “exit” and “data hostage” fees.
- Platform Supports Customers Across Verticals and Government Agencies: No one industry represents more than 25% of Archive360’s customer base. We also have deployments across multiple geographies, including North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia, as well as mainland China. These factors are important because they demonstrate the value and applicability beyond a single industry or region.
- Extensive Governance Controls: Our platform incorporates extensive governance capabilities, supporting complex retention, disposition, search, privacy, security, and compliance obligations. These features are designed to address digital communications compliance requirements, ensuring organizations meet regulatory standards while maintaining robust control over their data. We also deliver role-based access with granular controls over entitlements to functionality and data to meet increasingly stringent requirements.
- API-Driven Architecture Supporting Integration and Extensibility: Archive360 maintains and extends API’s upstream to support capture, onboarding, and enrichment of data; and downstream to provide secure access to platform data. The latter includes integration of best of breed eDiscovery, Supervision/Surveillance, and AI and analytics tools that customers have already implemented.
Adding analytics capabilities remains a significant part of our roadmap, for Digital Communications Governance and Archiving and other enterprising archiving use cases, including application decommissioning and data archiving to improve the efficiency of the production environment.
We are designing this to provide in-platform analytics and trusted, secure access to enterprise data platforms. This provides large sets of archived data that were previously inaccessible to analytics and AI tools and allows organizations to derive insight while meeting their data governance requirements.
